Problem
Rauchholz Memorial Library, a library in Hemlock, Michigan, needed a professionally-designed library card for patrons.
One concern was the length of time it could take to design, approve and produce a custom library card. The cards also had to be consecutively numbered and barcoded with a 14-digit number that worked with their current computer system. The old method involved generic cards with a hand-applied barcode label. Excess time was spent printing and applying labels, and the director thought that the overall look of the card did not reflect a desirable image to the community. Since Rauchholz is a relatively small library, the director was concerned that an order for a small quantity of custom printed cards would not be affordable, and adding a key tag to the card would certainly be out of the question.
Solution
